Figure 2. Subtraction image between two digital bitewing radiographs taken in general dental practice two years apart in the same individual. Due to a non-optimal standardization of the recordings, the teeth in each jaw are subtracted separately, here the upper jaw. The box illustrates a new filling, the white circle a new deep approximal caries lesion, and the black circle progression of a former enamel lesion into the dentin.
