(A) RT-PCR analysis with the use of specific primers for survivin gene showed that survivin was expressed in tumors but not in corresponding normal tissues, except for case No. 8. Methylation assay revealed survivin-methylation in normal tissues of cases 17, 21, 9, and 13, respectively, which showed no survivin gene mRNA expression. (B) Survivin mRNA expression was detected in OSCC-derived cell lines (HSC-3, OK-92, Ca9-22, and SAS). All cell lines, with the exception of Ca9-22 cell line, showed survivin-methylation.
