This Fig. shows the cumulative prevalence of Streptococcus mutans colonization after tooth eruption in infants who were not previously colonized during the pre-dentate period. The black columns represent the cumulative prevalence of Streptococcus mutans colonization after tooth eruption in full-term infants, while the white columns represent the pre-term infants. "n value" for pre-term infants is 33 and for full-term infants is 76, at each three-month interval. The Fig. illustrates prevalence rates, and therefore, estimate of variability is not included.
