Seldom were microcracks observed after extensive deformation. (B) A microcrack is shown in a specimen with 15% chitosan lactate (arrow indicates the crack tip). (C) The microcracks in CPC-chitosan lactate specimens were surface-localized (arrows), even after extensive deformation.
