Localization of Porphyromonas gingivalis-carrying Fimbriae in situ in Human Periodontal Pockets

This is also shown in Table 1Go. (A) In all 6 anti-P. gingivalis-positive samples, the reactions are scattered throughout almost all of the 9 separate sites. (B) Positive reactions with the anti-P. gingivalis fimbriae serum are detected in 6 samples. In all 6 positive samples, the reactions are found in the cementum-attached plaque area at the bottoms of the periodontal pockets. In the epithelium-associated plaque area, the reactions for the fimbriae are observed only in 2 positive samples.
