Publication of Divisional Abstracts meets one of the prime objectives of the IADR, namely, the dissemination of the latest information on the findings of dental research around the world.

This issue of the JDR brings together abstracts from 12 Divisional/Sectional meetings which have taken place during the last year. Excepted are the American and Canadian Divisions, whose abstracts were already published, in March, 1989. Also excepted are the Egyptian, Indian, and Iranian Sections/Divisions, from whom no abstracts were received.

The timing of this issue is designed to keep to a minimum the interval between meetings and the publication of the abstracts. Inevitably, though, some Divisional abstracts are published close to a year after the actual meetings, but there seems no inexpensive way to overcome this problem.

As in recent years, this issue is financially supported by a grant from the USA Section of the International College of Dentists, and the IADR very much appreciates this generosity
