Effects of nitrous oxide during organogenesis in the rat

L. J. Ramazzotto, R. D. Carlin and G. A. Warchalowski

Susceptibility of the pregnant female rat to possible teratogenic effects from acute nitrous oxide exposure was studied. A statistically significant increase in fetal death rate (ranging from 19.1 to 7%) was observed with exposure during various periods of organogensis. No significant differences in fetal length, weight, or organ-to-body-weight ratio for spleen and liver were observed.
