Molybdenum inhibited production of active nitrate reductase by Veillonella parvula and increased utilization of L-lactate, but had little effect on cell yield. KNO, spared consumption of L-lactate. Cell yield of Streptococcus mutans was increased in the presence of molybdenum, but there was no change in L-lactate production or terminal pH.
