STEPHEN H. Y. WEI 1, THOMAS E. TANG 1, and JAMES S. WEFEL 1

1 Department of Pedodontics, College of Dentistry, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa 52242, USA

The final reaction products of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate and fluoride are either fluorapatite (FAP), calcium fluoride (CaF2), or a mixture of both, depending on the initial F/Ca ratio. A method is presented to estimate the FAP/CaF2 ratio in the final reaction product from the initial F/Ca ratio.
