Effect of Zinc Oxide-Eugenol Cement Containing Monofluorophosphate on Fluoride Uptake and Solubility of Enamel

STEPHEN H. Y. WEI 1 and THOMAS J. BITNERS 1

1 Department of Pedodontics, College of Dentistry, University of Iowa. Iowa City, Iowa 52240, USA

Sounld enamel blocks had significantly h'higher fluoride concentrations after being placed in contact with zinc oxide-eugenol cements containing monoflutorophosphate in vitro than control blocks covered with no cement or a conventional ZOE cement. The acid solubility of intact enamel surfaces after exposure to ZOE cements containing MFP also was reduced significantly.
