Reflex Responses of the Masseter and Temporal Muscles in Man

HIROYUKI FUJII 1 and HARUYASU MITANI 1

1 Department of Prosthodontics, Osaka Dental University, Osaka, Japan

Masseteric and deep temporal nerves in man were stimulated electrically. Electromyograms from the ipsilateral masseter and temporal muscles indicated muscular action potentials of about 2.0 and 6.0 msec latency. The former seemed to be a direct potential (AI wave), and the latter, a monosynaptic reflex potential (H wave).
