Effects of Dextranase from Spicaria violaceae (IFO 6120) on the Polysaccharides Produced by Oral Streptococci and on Human Dental Plaque

Dextranase was prepared from Spicaria violaceae. The in vitro effect of the dextranase on the various polysaccharides produced by oral streptococci was studied. In vivo studies revealed that the dextranase was capable of preventing dental plaque deposition in man.
