Trials of Three Organic Phosphorus-Containing Compounds as Protective Agents Against Dental Caries in Rats

T. H. GRENBY 1

1 Department of Oral Medicine and Pathology, Guy's Hospital, London, SE1 9RT, England

More than 300 caries-susceptible rats were fed high sucrose diets; possible cariostatic phosphate compounds were administered by incorporation in the diets, in solution in the drinking water, or by topical application. Calcium glycerophosphate was more effective than sodium phytate in reducing caries, but calcium sucrose phosphate had no significant effect.
