The presence of anaerobic diphtheroids in subgingival plaque isolates from 79 individuals was analyzed on a statistical basis; a 26% incidence was found in periodontally diseased patients, compared with 4% in clinically normal individuals. No statistically significant increase was observed with increased severity of periodontal disease.
