Fluoride uptake by acid-etched human enamel from acidulated phosphate-fluoride solutions was determined and compared with previous findings with sound enamel. Etched enamel acquired about five times more fluoride than sound enamel. The relative efficacy of different fluoride solutions was not always the same with etched and sound enamel.
