An Abrasion Resistance Study of Some Dental Resins

ARMAND A. LUGASSY 1 and EVAN H. GREENER 1

1 Northwestern University Dental School, Chicago, Illinois 60611, USA

The wear resistance of six filled and three unfilled resins was evaluated with the use of a commercial abrasion tester. The results showed significantly greater wear (P < 0.05) of the filled resins compared with the unfilled resins. Based on these observations, a mechanism for explaining the wear behavior of the filled resins has been proposed.
