Motion pictures were used to measure the elastic recovery of polysulfide base impression materials during clinically simulated undercut removals. Recovery was complex; it involved strain gradients, withdrawal rates, and material thickness. Behavior could be correlated to tests on specimens of simpler geometries. Materials tested were found to be acceptable for clinical use.
