A study involving both preclinical and clinical phases was conducted to test the practicality of a recently developed industrial film surface analyzer, which appears to be a valuable tool for both the dental researcher and the clinician in studying the microsurface of burs, hand instruments, and restorative materials. Highly accurate replicas of the surfaces under study can be obtained practically and in a simple step.
