Influence of Extracted Teeth on DMF Surface Increments in Clinical Trials of Caries Preventives

Five methods of allocating affected surfaces to extracted teeth were applied to incremental data from a clinical trial. Results were the same regardless of method used, but assigning the number of surfaces to the extraction as detected on the previous examination had the greatest flexibility and was judged preferable.
