Staining Differences Between Normal and Carcinogen-Induced Carcinomas of the Hamster Pouch

ROBERT F. CHAVEZ 1 and PATRICK D. TOTO 1

1 Loyola University Dental School, Maywood, Illinois 60153

An alteration in cell surface antigens associated with malignant change was investigated with the fluorescent antibody technic. Normal hamster pouch and squamous cell carcinomas (induced by topical DMBA) from the same hamsters were compared. The findings consistently showed that the intensity of the staining is diminished in squamous cell carcinomas.
