The solubility of intact enamel surface was reduced by contact with zinc oxide-eugenol formulations to which sodium fluoride or stannous fluoride was added. The magnitude of the reduction was comparable to that incurred in enamel in contact with silicate cement. No change in solubility was observed when fluoridefree zinc oxideeugenol cements were used.
