Fixed decalcified paraffin-embedded sections were incubated with bacterial collagenase alone, or with calcium chloride or sodium citrate added. The soft tissue collages were not digested by collagenase or by collagenase and citrate, although the latter prevented the surface epithelium from staining. The results of the various technics were compared and attempts were made to measure the epithelial-connective tissue junction.
