A tetracycline labeling method was used for demonstration of bone-remodeling changes in both tibias following unilateral local X irradiation of the mandible and tibia. A 5-mm diameter X-ray beam was used. Direct effects of 4,500 and 9,000 R exposures of two different radiation qualities were evaluated quantitatively. An assessment of the abscopal effect was also made.
