Fluctuations in the Rate of Oxygen Uptake of Rat Incisor Pulp

GEORGE KOZAM 1

1 New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry, Jersey City, New Jersey

The incisor pulps from 20 rats were studied individually for three-hour periods by means of differential microrespirometric technics to determine fluctuations in the oxygen uptake with time. Variations observed in the pulp tissue ranged from 0 to 59.64% when comparing the second and third hours of the determination period with the first hour. The mean uptake of all rats at hourly intervals, however, did not demonstrate any significant fluctuations.
