Phosphorescence of Enamel Treated with Stannous Salts

A decrease in phosphorescent intensity occurred when enamel was treated with stannous fluoride, chloride, and gluconate. No alteration occurred from exposure to sodium fluoride in neutral and acidic 0.lM phosphate buffers. Changes in the pH of the treatment solutions were not reflected in phosphorescent changes, indicating that pH is not a factor in the magnitude or wavelength of phosphorescence of enamel in the condensed system of potassium bromide at 89°K.
