In summary, the foregoing has been an attempt to sketch the characteristics of the dental investigator, his attributes and his weaknesses. Some of the problems associated with research in this field have been reviewed. It has been suggested that this Association has a responsibility to convince educators, foundations, practitioners, students, science writers, and research administrators of the importance of research with dental implications.
