Studies concerning the synthesis and evaluation of new and more effective compounds for use in the partial control of dental caries have indicated that one compound, sodium pentafluorostannite, possesses anticariogenic characteristics and is effective during the period of tooth development. The method of synthesis along with some of the chemical and biological properties of this compound are described.
