Effects of Age on Dentin Demonstrated with Azure A

A progressive decrease of basic dye uptake (azure A, pH 3.31) of dentin in sections of human teeth was correlated with increasing age of the specimens. The intensity of the staining of dentin decreased considerably through the third decade.
