In order to provide an experimental model for the study of allergic reactions in the human being that may be caused by introduction of foreign substances in oral tissues, primates were exposed to particulate and soluble antigens through the root canals of teeth. The production of circulating antibodies to sheep erythrocytes and to bovine serum albumin was demonstrated by agglutination and by specific percipitation in agar gel, respectively, and indicates systemic involvement of the sensitization process.
