Skin Grafting in the Syrian Hamster A Modifed Technic

RALPH MEZROW 1 and HAROLD LERMAN 1

1 Department of Dentistry, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

A modified technic was developed for experiments that utilize the Syrian hamster as an experimental research animal for isografts, autografts and homografts of skin. Substantial improvements were made in the accuracy and efficiency of the technic by using an 8-mm. round biopsy punch forceps to remove the graft and by replacing conventional bandages with spray dressing as a protection of the healing grafts.
