The meaning of the relation of equation (2) is summarized in Figure 2. The same graph of force direction F vs. tooth surface slope S can be used for different angles of chew M. For in order to obtain the values of F vs. S for M + dgr, we need merely observe the values for Fdgr and S + dgr, or, equivalently, use a translated FS axis-set, as illustrated in Figure 2.
