Comparison of Two Ultrashort Duration Anesthetic Agents

ADRIAN COWAN 1

1 Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Royal City of Dublin Hospital, Dublin, Ireland

It is manifest that both the solutions tested have similar qualities in regard to duration of effect. However, L67 4 per cent is capable of acting in lower dosage and certainly has a much higher efficiency rate than mepivacaine 3 per cent (94 per cent against 82 per cent), where short duration is required and where epinephrine-free solutions are desirable for other reasons. It therefore emerges as the more reliable of the two.

In conclusion, the suitable dosages for L67 4 per cent are excerpted from the charts as shown in the accompanying tabulation.
