The concentration of ascorbic acid in the testicles, adrenals, pituitary, plasma, gingiva, periosteum, and periodontium of bilaterally and unilaterally adrenalectomized guinea pigs was determined using the method of Roe and Kuether.11

Bilaterally adrenalectomized guinea pigs showed a decrease in ascorbic acid concentration in the testicles, plasma, gingiva, periosteum, and periodontium. No changes in pituitary ascorbic acid levels were observed.

In unilaterally adrenalectomized guinea pigs an increase in ascorbic acid concentration was observed in the testicles, adrenal glands, pituitary, plasma, periosteum, and periodontium. No changes in the gingiva were seen.
