Six human biopsies from a variety of periodontal and gingival tissues were cultivated by the cellophane-strip technique in multipurpose culture chambers. Emigrating cells from the tissue-cultured explants followed a predictable series of growth phenomena, thereby establishing a base line for more advanced investigations. The cellular forms observed were documented by phase-contrast photographs.
