The kidneys of 183 rats 520 days old were studied microscopically. There was no significant effect attributable to the administration of as much as 10 ppm of fluoride as sodium fluoride in the drinking water daily over the life-span of the rats studied. There was a highly significant predominance of abnormal findings in the kidneys of the males as compared with the females. A wide range of changes was found in the kidneys. It is our interpretation that these changes may be expected in any series of rats of this age.
