The cis-aconitic anhydride method has been extended to the determination of other local anesthetics of dental interest which contain a tertiary amino group. Anesthetic compounds which do not contain a tertiary amine have been shown to give no interference with the method. The procedure has been found to have particular application see table in pdf in the analysis of commercial dosage forms which contain both procaine hydrochloride and butethamine hydrochloride in mixed solution.
