Toxicity Evaluation of Diethylenetriamine

WILLIAM L. KYDD 1

1 University of Washington, Seattle, Washington

Diethylenetriamine was applied to the flexor surface of the forearm of 50 human subjects. Nine subjects had positive reactions after 24 hours; of these, 6 had slight and 3 had moderate reactions. Forty-eight hours later there was no increase numerically, but the severity of the reaction had increased.

Fourteen days later D.T.A. was reapplied to the original site. No reaction recurred in any of the 9 original positive subjects.

Diethylenetriamine is no more toxic than monomeric methyl methacrylate.
