A stannous fluoride-calcium pyrophosphate dentifrice containing in addition 1 per cent of a calcium sequestering agent, insoluble sodium metaphosphate, has been clinically tested. When used by 6- to 15-year-old children for 1 year the reduction was 25 and 23 per cent, respectively, when the DMFT and DMFS indices were used. Both reductions were statistically significant.
