Mouth wash specimens were tested for lytic action against 12 strains of lactobacillus. From a pooled mouth wash specimen, bacteriophage specific for nonlactose-fermenting lactobacillus was isolated and stocked in broth. The possible use of lactobacilli bacteriophages in identification of lactobacilli is discussed. A possible relationship between oral bacteriophages and oropharyngeal infections is mentioned.
