The effect of selenium on dental caries in the rat was studied by feeding sodium selenite as a constituent of the diet. The results indicated that the selenium did not alter the dental caries experience when compared to a control group receiving the same diet without added selenium. The histologic picture of the salivary glands was not altered by selenium administration.
