1. The exotoxin of Cl. tetani failed to cross the placenta of rabbits, guinea pigs, and rats in detectable amounts.
2. Similar tests for the transplacental passage of Cl. oedematiens in rabbits, and C. diphtheria in rabbits and guinea pigs were, likewise, negative.
3. The intracardial, intraperitoneal, and intraplacental administration of dextran and hyaluronidase failed to enhance the passage of tetanus toxin into the fetuses of rabbits.
