JENS WAERHAUG PH.D., D.D.S.1

1 Division of Periodontology, School of Dentistry, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn., and the Norwegian Institute of Dental Research, Oslo, Norway

On 48 tooth surfaces in 3 monkeys and 5 dogs the enamel surface was ground away below the gingival margin. The animals were sacrificed after 23 to 216 days. The histologic sections showed reappearance of a thin cuticle corresponding to the description usually given of the "primary enamel cuticle."
