FREE AMINO ACIDS OF HUMAN SALIVA; A CHROMATOGRAPHIC INVESTIGATION

M. G. WOLDRING Ph.D.1

1 Dental Material Department, University of Groningen, Netherlands

The ninhydrin-positive components of the saliva of five individuals were fractionated chromatographically by means of Dowex-50 columns. The free amino acids present in human saliva (ultrafiltrate) were quantitatively determined by this method. The presence of at least eighteen amino acids in human saliva has been demonstrated.
