This investigation is based on dental caries examination of 650 children, 1 to 6 years of age, attending day nurseries, kindergarten, and grade school, and reports the prevalence and incidence of dental caries of primary teeth in those children. Incidence of caries in the first permanent molar in 5- and 6-year-old children is also presented. No significant sex difference was found. The number of primary teeth missing (extracted because of dental caries) as well as teeth indicated for extraction was very small. Findings of this study were compared to other studies reported in the last ten years in North America.
