M. lactilyticus was found to be a consistent component of dentobacterial plaques from clinically normal subjects.
A gram-positive reaction was demonstrated with young cultures of the microorganism, confirming the work of Foubert and Douglas which had been contested by Langford, Faber, and Pelczar.
