The following calculation reveals readily that the increase of the fluorine element in the teeth of dogs, which have been treated topically with sodium fluoride, is to a great degree significant. Therefore, the fluoride content of the [See PDF for Equation] enamel and adjacent dentin increases 179.4 per cent or 2.78 fold. As the greater quantity of fluorine in the enamel is in the calcium fluoride state, it is evident that this treatment increases the calcium fluoride content to a significant degree.
