OXIDATION OF GLUCOSE DEGRADATION PRODUCTS IN THE PRESENCE OF SALIVA AND POSSIBLE RELATION TO CARIES IMMUNITY

1. A rapid oxidation of lactate and slight oxidations of pyruvate, acetate, and propionate in the presence of saliva have been shown and measured by means of the Warburg respirometer.

2. The possible relation of these oxidations to natural caries immunity has been discussed.
