A brief description is given of the normal and diseased periodontium of the hamster. A form of periodontal disease common among aged stock animals and weanlings is described, and a set of conditions which appears to produce a unique type of disease in otherwise normal young animals is discussed. The hamster is recommended as a tool for research in the field of periodontia.
