The anomaly of dens in dente is a rare occurrence. This case is the only case of bilateral dens in dente reported. The case was studied by means of photographs, radiographs, and ground sections.
The authors cannot support the theory that such malformations represent retardations at one or more points of growth, but believe these malformations to be caused by a proliferation of the cells of the enamel organ into the dental papilla.
