1. 1,003 cases were studied radiographically to determine the existence of a correlation between periodontal disease and caries.
2. Bodecker's modified dental caries index was used in the computation of the caries experience of a radiographic series.
3. The relative amount of alveoloclasia was used as the index of periodontal disease.
4. There seemed to be an antagonism between the two factors according to sex. Males were found to be more susceptible to periodontal disease and females were found to be more susceptible to caries.
5. Coefficients of correlation were computed on three different groups of cases ranging in age from 31 to 50. It was also computed on the entire series of 1,003 cases. None of the coefficients obtained were of statistical significance.
6. There is no correlation between periodontoclasia and caries.
